Gwyneth Paltrow Reflects On The Challenges Of Acting And How She Almost Gave Up

According to Gwyneth Paltrow, a big part of the reason why she moved away from the acting scene in Hollywood has to do with Harvey Weinstein and the way she was treated in the industry as a young woman. Page Six reported today that Gwyneth has been busier with her lifestyle brand, Goop, over the last few years rather than a career on-screen.

During her appearence on Quarantined with Bruce on SiriusXM, Paltrow shared that she got sick of the “shine of acting” because it was starting to wear on her personal life. She claimed there was always “intense public scrutiny” and all of her relationships were being dissected in the headlines.

The 48-year-old actress went on to say that to top it all off, she had a “really rough boss” for almost the entirety of her movie career over at Miramax studios, obviously, the studio owned by Harvey and Bob Weinstein before the former went to jail.

Hollywood enthusiasts know Weinstein co-founded the film studio back in 1979 with his brother, Bob, which they ran at least until they created The Weinstein Company. Under Miramax, Paltrow had starred in a few big movies including Shakespeare in Love, for which she won an Academy Award, as well as the film, Emma.

During her conversation with the New York Times back in 2017, Paltrow described herself as just a “kid.” She claimed she was “petrified.” Regarding her acting career, Paltrow said last year in March that she hasn’t retired from acting, she just doesn’t focus on it anymore as her full-time passion.
