Westlife star Brian McFadden and his fiancée Danielle Parkinson have shared on their heartbreak after suffering from a miscarriage.
The pair – who announced their engagement in December 2019 – are desperate to have a baby together but struggled to conceive following two years of trying, and in their bid to become parents the loved-up couple have been undergoing IVF treatment for over a year.
And now the duo, both 39, have shared on how PE teacher Danielle fell pregnant following their first round of IVF but sadly lost the baby five-weeks into her pregnancy, leaving the couple “devastated”.
Detailing what happened, she told OK! magazine : “I was about five weeks in. I felt pregnant. I had a backache and some tiredness. Then I started bleeding and the symptoms disappeared. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. A blood test in hospital confirmed I’d lost the baby.”
Brian was away in Dubai when Danielle found out the heart-wrenching news and told the publication he “didn’t believe the baby was gone”.
The singer explained that he asked his love to come and meet him in Dubai so that a top gynaecologist – who he met in the UAE – could see her and do a scan.
When the scan showed that the baby was gone, Brian shared: “That’s when it hit me. It was the worst sinking feeling ever.”
Danielle and Brian explained that they “wanted to shut ourselves away” and that their “emotions have been all over the place” but they are hopeful that as they continue with fertility treatment that one day they will share a child.
Revealing that they are open to other options, Danielle added that they would “consider using a surrogate.”
Brian also told: “Adoption is an option too, but right now I have a feeling the IVF will work for us. We were so close that first time. If we want to get pregnant we have to be positive, I really believe that. When you have a positive mental attitude it affects your body.”
At the end of 2019 singer Brian took to Twitter to break the news in a very short and sweet post that he had asked Danielle to be his wife.
He wrote: “FYI I got engaged to the beautiful @DaniParky. And yes I’m very very happy xxxx.”
Brian’s first marriage was to Kerry Katona, from 2002 until they separated in 2004 and their divorce was finalised in 2006.
The former couple share Molly, 18, and Lily-Sue, 16.
He was in a long term relationship with Australian singer Delta Goodrem from 2004 until 2011.
Brian married Vogue Williams in 2011 but separated in 2017.
