Zara McDermott has hit back at vile trolls who called her "anorexic" after dropping just under three stone.

The former Love Island star, 23, shocked the online world in recent days as she revealed she has shed the whopping amount of weight since June last year.

But cruel haters commented on her new physique and branded her "unhealthy" after revealing she switched up her diet and exercise routine to help achieve her new slimmer body.

However the reality star has set all records straight as she revealed her weight loss was actually spurred on by the tragic death of her nan.

Zara said her beloved nan suffered a stroke a few years ago, and her "arteries were clogged up from a poor diet".

Explaining her decision to drop such a huge amount of weight, she wrote on her Instagram : "I actually lost my nan a few years ago.

"And the reason for that was because she suffered a stroke, her arteries were so clogged up from such a poor diet which caused it. It was one my catalysts for making a change to my lifestyle!"

The telly personality said she was "sorry" for having to keep explaining her decision, but added about the "anorexic" comments: "I am definitely not 7 stone 7lbs. I have learnt a lot about posting my exact before and after weight as it can be damaging, and that's something I would never do now.

"Yes I have shared that I lost almost 3 stone (actually less than three stone) but no one is completely aware of my weight at my absolute heaviest and my current weight."

Urging people to stop body-shaming, Zara continued: "It's entirely unfair for people to make statements saying I weight a certain amount when they have never ever heard that from me.

"There is nothing wrong with me at a size 10 and me at a size 6. I love myself in both pics.

"I just want to be helpful and motivate other people who are on the same path as me to lead a healthier lifestyle.

"It was never about weight loss. And it's not about weight loss."

She concluded: "It's about balance! As I have said before, I am naturally slim, but because I was in such a huge calorie surplus and eating so much, the poor quality of my diet overrode that!"

Zara appears happy with her progress and is looking incredible in her new skin.
