Vernon Kay is struggling to eat after his stomach shrank while he was in the I'm A Celebrity castle.

The TV star lost a whopping two-and-a-half stone in just three weeks while competing on the hit ITV show which saw him come in third place.

Asked "What did you have for tea?" by his friend, Football Focus presenter Dan Walker.

Vernon replied on Instagram : "Could only manage a little... stomach has totally shrunk!!"

The comments came after Vernon posted a picture to the photo-sharing site cuddled up with his wife, Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly.

He wrote: "Home sweet home!! Finally a day with the girls!! Tree is up and now time to just relax...and re energise!

"Thank you for all your votes.. It means so much to us that you voted to get me into the final.... xxxxx"

Tess, 51, was Vernon's biggest supporter during his time on the show, posting multiple daily updates urging fans to back her husband of 17 years.

After stocking up on his favourite foods, she now plans to "feed up" the 46-year-old, posting a photo of homemade chicken soup.

Alongside the photo, Tess wrote: "Chicken soup at bedtime... feeding him up".

There was much joy when Vernon returned home, with Tess sharing her feelings on social media.

She wrote: "After almost 5 weeks away (2 and a half in isolation before going into the Castle) it’s so good to have him home. Now it’s time to get that Christmas tree up."

Family Fortunes host Vernon said that his time on the ITV show had left him feeling "drained".

He said: "We were eating nothing but rice and beans. For the first two meals you're like, 'Yeah, we can do this', then you realise every meal is bloody rice and beans. It's awful. You're so drained.

"The medic weighed us after the show and I've lost just over two and a half stone, and I haven't got two and a half stone to lose.

"So you're physically drained, you're emotionally drained because you're missing your family."

Vernon said he was looking forward to getting back to the Buckinghamshire home the couple share with their two daughters and putting the weight back on over Christmas.

He continued: "We're going to put the Christmas tree up and I've got a funny feeling there may be a bottle of champagne involved.
