US Election 2020: Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston and Ariana Grande cast their votes

As the most important election in recent history gets underway, we take a look at how some of the biggest stars in Hollywood are voting

With the 2020 election finally upon us, celebrities are out in force sharing their support for Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

More than 90 million Americans have voted early in the presidential election, the latest data shows, including some of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

In recent weeks, A-listers including Tom Hanks, 50 Cent, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Aniston have backed their respective nominees while encouraging fans to get out and vote.

Here, we take a look at who is voting for who in Hollywood.

Kirstie Alley

Cheers star Kirstie Alley has not been shy about endorsing her support for Donald Trump.

She initially threw her weight behind him in his first presidential campaign in 2016.

And the 69-year-old actress has continued to share support for the US president’s controversial claims on coronavirus 'cures', including Hydroxychloroquine.

After he contracted the virus himself, Trump, 74, claimed that the anti-malarial drug ‘saved him’.

Following in his footsteps, Kirstie told fans on Twitter that she intended to get a prescription from her doctor in a bid to battle the deadly virus.

Last month, she also caused a Twitter storm when she said: “I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him four years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason.

She continued: “He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it, folks, there you have it.”

50 Cent

50 Cent left his fanbase gobsmacked last month when he implied that his vote was going towards Donald Trump.

The 45-year-old hit-maker made a complete U-turn in his support for Trump when he learned of Joe Biden ’s proposed tax plan.

Shocked by Biden’s plans, the rapper took to Twitter to back Trump when he wrote: “WHAT THE F***! (VOTE For TRUMP) IM OUT.

“F** NEW YORK, The KNICKS never win anyway.

“I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62 percent are you out of ya f***ing mind.”

Following his unexpected social media outburst, 50 Cent was dubbed "idiotic" before a string of famous faces blasted the rapper.

It appears as though the rapper has had another change of heart however after he shared a cryptic tweet on election day which didn’t go down well with fans.

50 Cent shared a Vanity Fair headline which read: “Trump is terrified about going to prison after losing the election, as he should.”

Alongside it, he mocked: “If he don’t win, he going in. Lol!”

Stacey Dash

Clueless star Stacey Dash has backed Donald Trump since the 2016 election.

The 53-year-old's social media is awash with hashtags including #MAGA” and “#WomenForTrump”.

In a 2016 interview with the New York Times, Stacey detailed her reasons for backing Trump.

The star explained: “I want to try something new. Especially a guy who’s not the establishment.

“He’s not the man, as they say it. The establishment doesn’t even like him. But he’s a Republican. He’s a conservative.”

Jay Cutler

Former NFL star Jay Cutler openly shared his support for Donald Trump on social media last month.

The sport star, who filed for divorce from his estranged wife Kirstin Cavallari earlier this year, reshared a letter in support of the Republican leader on Twitter.

Jay endorsed a lengthy letter in support of the president before adding the caption: "Never a doubt."

He also reshared the essay in a since-deleted Instagram post with the caption, "SIGN ME UP."

The lengthy essay, which did not go down well with fans, included the sentence: “Donald Trump's policies will bring the American Dream to many families across the nation who are still trying to achieve it."

Kid Rock

Country rapper singer Kid Rock has been a driving force behind Donald Trump for the 2020 election.

The 49-year-old has even gone out to campaign with Donald Trump Jr. in Michigan support of President Trump’s reelection.

The singer has been incredibly vocal about his support for Trump and has urged his large social media following to ‘make the right choice and vote for Trump’ in a string of recent social media posts.

Kid Rock considers himself a ‘friend’ of Trump's, having visited him in the White House in the past.

Taylor Swift

Last month, Taylor Swift officially endorsed Joe Biden to be the next president of the United States.

The country songstress, 30, made the announcement on social media by posting a selfie while holding up a batch of customised cookies with "Biden Harris 2020" branded on them.

After sharing her support for Biden, Taylor revealed in an interview that she will only vote for a government that will "put the lives of its people first".

She told V magazine : "The change we need most is to elect a president who recognises that people of colour deserve to feel safe and represented."

Taking to Twitter on Monday ahead of the election, she urged fans to get out and vote.

In an inspiring video, she encouraged: “So we are all very stressed out about this election – rightfully so, I feel you.

“But allow me to be the 1 millionth person to remind you that tomorrow is your last chance to make your voice heard and to make your vote count. So, if you haven’t voted yet, please do. Stay safe, take care of yourselves, wear a mask, happy voting.”

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande had been rather quiet about her political stance before the release of her latest single Positions.

The pop princess, 27, made her political views crystal clear in the show-stopping music video as it sees her in a White House led by women and the LGBTQ community.

After it’s explosive release, Ariana urged to get out and vote when she wrote on Instagram: “Please go and vote guys....and vote for Biden!”.

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks has been incredibly vocal about his support for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

The 64-year-old Hollywood actor sang Biden’s praises as the first night of the Democratic National Convention got underway back in August.

During a spine-tingling virtual video call between the two men, Tom reiterated the importance of choosing the right president during these unprecedented times and the current global crisis.

The Forrest Gump star said: “This is the most important election of our lives. This is the most important election in the history of America and we need to choose the right man.”

Tom’s show of support for Biden comes after he criticised Trump’s coronavirus response.

The actor insisted that ‘it would be a dark day’ if the current president is reelected.

Jennifer Aniston

Ahead of the 2020 election, Jennifer Aniston made sure to use her social media platform to get out the vote for Joe Biden.

The former Friends actress, 51, even shared an image of herself voting at the ballot box on Instagram.

Alongside the snap, Jen penned: “I voted for Biden and I voted for him because right now this country is more divided than ever. Right now, a few men in power are deciding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies.

“Our current President has decided that racism is a non-issue. He has repeatedly and publicly ignored science... too many people have died. ⠀ “I urge you to really consider who is going to be most affected by this election.”

Timothée Chalamet

Call Me By Your Name actor Timothee Chalamet made his thoughts on the upcoming US election very clear last month.

In a series of Instagram stories, the star shared his thoughts on Donald Trump, encouraging his followers to “vote that f***er out”.

The 24-year-old, who boasts a whopping 10 million Instagram followers, has urged his adoring admirers to get out and vote in recent weeks.

Timothee has used his platform to back Biden in what can be described as one of the most important elections in history.

Jennifer Lawrence

Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has continued to endorse Biden on social media in the run-up to the election.

In a recent post, she said: “I'm voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this year because Donald Trump has and will continue to put himself before the safety and well-being of America.”
