Tom Cruise 'furious' after horrifying motorbike accident on Mission Impossible set
Fire brigades and ambulances were rushed to the set after an action sequence went horribly wrong after a motorbike burst into flames on the set of Mission Impossible
The latest Mission: Impossible film was thrown into complete chaos after a motorbike caught fire on the £2 million set.
Production of the iconic movie series, which features Hollywood star Tom Cruise as genius spy Ethan Hunt, was called to halt after a stuntman's bike exploded after being driven off a huge ramp.
The 58-year-old actor is said to be furious following the horror explosion as the risky action sequence was one of the most expensive filmed in the UK.
Cast and crew members were meticulously preparing for the adventure shot for over six weeks prior to the accident.
Tom had been filming with a parachute in a nearby field for his return as Ethan Hunt in the seventh Mission Impossible flick.
An insider told the Sun about the unfortunate mishap insisted that it all went 'horribly wrong'.
The insider revealed: "This has been a massive challenge to stage and has cost a fortune, not to mention weeks and weeks of construction. But when it came to the big day, it went horribly wrong.
"The heat and the friction of the tyres meant that when the bike crashed, the cardboard padding sparked and went up in flames. The smoke was so bad they had to close a nearby RAF airfield."
While nobody was hurt in the risky action shot, Tom is still believed to be raging because it puts a huge delay on production.
"Fortunately, nobody was hurt but it’s a total catastrophe, not to mention extremely expensive for all concerned. Tom is very frustrated. Nobody wants more delays," the source added.
Oxfordshire Fire Service rapidly sent five fire engines to the scene of the accident on Tuesday night.
Ambulances also fled to the quarry to check over the brave stunt man and the nearby members of the film's cast and crew.
According to reports, it is believed that the set of Mission Impossible temporarily closed as movie bosses try to figure out exactly what went wrong.
The film, which was set to hit theatres in July 2021 release had already been shoved back to November due to the coronavirus.
After the horror accident, it is now likely that the seventh installment of Mission Impossible may not debut until 2022.
