He's a superstar DJ and presenter but it seems Tim Westwood falls victim to social media slip-ups like the rest of us.

The 63-year-old, who is celebrating his birthday today, famously sent his 'unlimited' credit card details to everyone who followed him on Snapchat when he was chatting to a woman.

Westwood, who used to present Pimp My Ride on MTV, was wooing a lady who he was planning to take out for dinner when he made the error.

He uploaded his credit card, which he said had an unlimited limit, to his Snapchat stories, meaning his thousands of followers could have accessed his account during the slip three years ago.

Westwood wrote: "Baby looking forward taking you to dinner on Thursday.

"I appreciate you may wanna get nails, hair and a wax. Even some new shoes or a clutch bag.

"Use my card it's black with private banking so there's no limit ( but don't be buying a new car lol)."

In the video, he says: "Hey baby, this is for you. Looking forward to Thursday girl."

The DJ quickly realised his error and took to Instagram to explain to fans about his massive mistake.

He wrote: ""So f***** up! Accidentally Snapchat my credit cards

"Had 186 screen grabs! Now I'm in Bermuda with no credit cards. Guess I got a lot of 419 Boys on my snap. #scammers#Imsneakingoutofthehotelonmonday."

And despite his misfortune social media fans were quick to mock Westwood when they saw what he'd done.

Born the son of the Anglican Bishop of Peterborough, Bill Westwood, he started his career as a glass collector in a nightclub before getting his big break as a DJ in the late 1980s.

He worked at the BBC for almost 20 years before leaving and returning to Capital FM.

In 1999 he was left fighting for his life when he was seriously hurt in a drive-by shooting in South London as he was travelling home from playing a show.

Gunmen pulled up next to him when he was in his Range Rover and shot both Westwood and his assistant, according to police reports.

There are rumours that Sacha Baron Cohen's character is based on Ali G, something the hip hop DJ has denied.

Westwood said in 2016: "Sacha Baron Cohen said to me he based it on the callers that we used to have on my show when I was on Radio 1.
