This Morning fans have called for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to get their own programme after their shock axing from their regular presenting slot.

Viewers have been left seething after the Mirror exclusively revealed the TV presenters, both 60, will no longer host their Friday morning show, and are being replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Instead, the couple will only host This Morning during the six-week holidays when regular presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield go on their summer break.

Raging fans have now called for the telly couple to be given their own show after ITV dropped them.

“Eamonn and Ruth should have their own show love their banter and they are a breath of fresh air,” one fan took to Twitter to voice.

Another devastated fan refused to believe the news, penning: "Tell me its not true, don't know if I'm angry or upset, no offence @AlisonHammond and @radioleary I like you guys and you've done a great job, but Ruth and eamonn your like a comfort blanket.

“You're just going to have to start your own show."

Some have even vowed to boycott the magazine show over the shocking decision, with one writing: "Morning Eamonn, if the story is true about This Morning dropping you & Ruth. May I just say it’s disgusting by them and I hope you two get your own show.

“Think a This Morning boycott is due."

Another echoed: "Well I certainly won’t be watching when Allison’s on. Poor Eamonn and Ruth, i love them presenting too! They should have their own show! Xx.”

Ruth and Eamonn, who have presented the Friday show together since 2006, are said to be "furious and upset" over the move.

Alison and Dermot have presented the show together in the past and were a huge hit with viewers.

The popular pair are yet to discuss their departure but it is claimed they are angry at how their exit has been handled.

A source said: "Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made."

Eamonn has confided in recent weeks that he feared being too "pale, stale and male" for the award-winning ITV show, which has drawn criticism for not having enough diversity among the presenters.

Last week, Ruth said "nobody has told me" when she was asked whether the presenting line-up on This Morning was headed for a shake-up in an interview with new! magazine.

She said: "There's always talk, I don't know. Not that anybody's told me."

Ruth added later in the interview: "I think I am very good at what I do, and as long as they want me I'll be there.

"I've been doing it a very long time and it seems we've been very popular.
