Tekken 8 May Have Been Alluded To By Bandai Namco For The First Time During The Evo 2022 Competition

Bandai Namco presented a teaser for the upcoming Tekken 7 update live on live at EVO 2022, following the Tekken 7 Grand Finals. A trailer’s climax featured the well-known Tekken clip in which Kazuya Mishima pushes his father, Heihachi, off a mountain.

When Kazuya’s face is zoomed in on in the cutscene, the cast’s appearance instantly changes from the PlayStation version of Kazuya from 1994 to one that is quite contemporary. The screen then flashes “Be Prepared” first before the clip goes to black.

Katsuhiro Harada, the series’ director, momentarily appeared on the main EVO stream but said absolutely nothing more about the teaser.

Although we can’t be certain quite yet, it’s definitely plausible to assume that this preview refers to Tekken 8.

Although there’s a potential it may be a remake or relaunch of the franchise, the trailer clearly featured footage from the first installment of Tekken.

We’ll just have to wait and see, as Bandai Namco hasn’t made any announcements about this project just yet. Since its initial release in 2017, Tekken 7 has gotten a tonne of DLC support.

In our review of Tekken 7, we gave the game a 9.5 and said that it “hit a great blend between usability to series novices and keeping much of its technological standards.”

The question is if the entire game will be released at this moment. The Tekken World Tour 2022 Global Finals took place in Amsterdam on February 4-5, 2023. So, Bandai Namco may potentially choose to reserve their full revelation till the completion of TWT Global Finals.

Since the release of Tekken 7, more than seven years have passed. It is extremely commendable that they will continue to offer ongoing support for the game.

On August 17, 2022, the next version is expected to be released for all platforms, such as PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
