Tekashi 6ix9ine has reportedly been hospitalised after an overdose of diet pills and caffeine.

The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is thought to have had an adverse reaction to the combination of the pills and the drink he took.

He was admitted to a Florida hospital on Tuesday following the reaction and the rapper spoke out to the Shade Room about what happened.

Tekashi said his overdose was a result of taking two Hydroxycut pills instead of the recommended daily dosage of one and then drinking them down with a cup of coffee.

The resulting effect was that the rapper's heart rate increased rapidly and he began to "sweat excessively" soon after taking the pills.

Tekashi has insisted that he he currently not taking any illicit substances and the New York native, who is currently on probation, has claimed that he was using Hydroxycut pills because of his weight gain during his time in prison.

He has claimed that he gained more than 200lbs while behind bars but has said that using the medication had helped him shed 30lbs since he was released.

Tekashi pleaded guilty in February to nine charges, including a number of firearm offences as well as admitting being involved with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

Page Six has reported that his movements are being tracked by GPS as he is allegedly in home confinement.

It is believed that he can only leave his home to have any necessary medical treatment or to visit his lawyer.

He would need to get approval for doing this by the Probation Department.

While in court, the rapper also pled guilty to a racketeering conspiracy, firearms charges, narcotics trafficking, and violent crimes in aid of racketeering.

He was facing a minimum sentence of 47 years in prison, with a life sentence also being a possibilty.

TMZ has reported that due to Tekashi cooperating with authorities, it is likely that he would be given a more lenient sentence.
