Taylor Swift has publicly endorsed Democratic candidate Joe Biden for president in the run up to the US elections.
The 30-year-old Shake It Off musician, who had steered away from politics in the past, threw her support behind Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris in a social media post on Wednesday.
Sharing the message with her 87.2 million Twitter followers, the blonde songstress proudly stood with a plate of homemade cookies that were decorated with Biden logos.
She also shared the cover of a recent magazine interview during which she went into more details about her decision to vote for Joe Biden.
Her endorsement comes justs 27 days before US citizens are set to descend on the voting booths amid a tense election year.
"I spoke to @vmagazine about why I’ll be voting for Joe Biden for president," Taylor wrote in her post.
"So apt that it’s come out on the night of the VP debate. Gonna be watching and supporting @KamalaHarris by yelling at the tv a lot. And I also have custom cookies," she added.
Taylor's endorsement comes before Kamala Harris is set to debate Vice President Mike Pence later today.
In her interview with the publication, Taylor revealed that her vote for Biden was a vote in support of people of colour, women and the LGBTQ+ community.
She said: “The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included."
In the past, Taylor appeared to steer clear of entering the political sphere but has become more vocal during the last few years.
She has also become an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and urged young people to register to vote.
Taylor's 2020 movie Miss Americana also sheds light on her political beliefs and featureed scenes where she argued with her dad about speaking out against Republican Marsha Blackburn in 2018.
