Former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite says she would give her boyfriend her blessing to leave her to have children with another woman if he wanted to start a family.

Mum-of-two Tamzin, 49, is dating Tom Child, who is 20 years her junior, and doesn’t have any children.

The actress has two children from her former marriage to actor Tom Ellis, and is adamant she would not want to have any more children herself.

She says: "After my experiences in life, I don’t think I think everything is always forever.

"He hates me saying this, but if he in a couple of years he really wanted kids I would give him my blessing. I don't feel like he has to be here forever. I’m just having a lovely time."

Speaking on the Postcards from Midlife podcast, Tamzin says dating in her 40s was “liberating” as she was no longer concerned with finding The One.

"It’s liberating because I’ve got my kids,” she said. "I don’t need to get married and I don’t need children. So actually I’m at the freest point really in my life.

"Having somebody that makes my day to day bright and exciting and fun... he’s like my home, very familiar. But at the same time he feels like my adventure."

Tamzin’s marriage ended in 2013, and says she found dating "mucky".

"I’m a serial monogamist," she says.

She has previously rejected the term "toyboy" in relation to Scareycrows actor Tom, 28, as she notes there is no male equivalent.

The couple have been dating for two years.

Tamzin, rumoured to be appearing on Strictly Come Dancing this year, has previously said of their relationship: "People think I’m having a midlife crisis, but actually, not all men want a younger woman.

"There’s Joan Collins, Sam Taylor-Johnson and Helena [Bonham-Carter] with younger men, so I’m in really lovely company.

"Tom's very good for my mental and physical health. The other way around, no one says anything about a younger woman do they?'"
