Tamar Braxton has had a rough time since her attempted suicide in mid-July. After a dramatic hospitalization, the 43-year-old has stated that she has been battling mental health issues ‘for some time now.’
In an Instagram post, she shared a powerful message about her past few months, and claimed that she had received a second chance from God after He saved her life.
“God thank you for saving me! You know my true heart. Despite what the world may think of me, you kept me here for a reason. You are a God of second chances, and this second chance I won’t take for granted. The world can often be a dark place but I must resort to you for my light.”
The singer also asked her female fans in the IG post whether they had forgotten to love themselves because all their time was invested in loving their children, their job, their relationship and family. Tamar said that this has been her life in the past few years.
“I believe I have put a lot of time and effort in loving and giving my all to everything else but myself. I have allowed myself to stay in toxic situations including work environments,” she wrote, referring to the past reality shows.

Nor is it a reason for anyone to call you “crazy”. I am praying for anyone that is on this same battle.”
The singer also spoke about “Black women” being “unvalued” and unprotected,” saying she wants to “personally fight for brown girls to have more ownership and not just be a slave to the industry.
She added that she’s now battling her own self, trying to be the “best Tamar Braxton I can be,” taking this opportunity to evolve. “For now on it’s me vs me,” concluded Tamar.
Actress Taraji P. Henson reached out and wrote in a comment, “WE GOT YOU SIS!!! #GodIsLove,” and singer CeCe Peniston said “The world loves you…no one has walked in your shoes. I’m in the industry and I understand the pressures truly. be blessed.”
“We love and support you Tamar! God has got you,” wrote Beyonce‘s mom Tina Lawson. With all the support and love she’s getting, Tamar must feel so good about opening herself up like this.
