Susanna Reid says the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is giving her sleepless nights as she keeps waking up due to nightmares about the killer virus.
The 49-year-old Good Morning Britain host may feel she can’t escape the details of the virus as it is a near constant topic on her breakfast TV news show.
While GMB co-star Kate Garraway made the pandemic all the more alarming when her husband, former lobbyist Derek Draper, was left in a coma after contracting the Covid-19 virus in March.
While the UK – and, indeed, the rest of the world – is seemingly far from out of the woods over the pandemic, Susanna says those early weeks of uncertainty and frightening statistics left her fraught with worry.
Speaking to The Telegraphs’ Stella Magazine, Susanna explained: “It was an anxious time for everybody, but those early days were very frightening.
“I started to have really vivid, terrifying nightmares where I would wake up screaming and crying even though I couldn’t quite remember what the nightmares were.”
Fans of GMB and 53-year-old Kate Garraway have been anxiously awaiting updates on her husband – who has since awoken from his Covid caused coma, but remains in hospital.
Susanna has supporting Kate – and earlier this month it was revealed she helped out as Kate’s son, Billy, began his first day at secondary school.
Revealing how Susanna lent a hand, Kate explained on GMB: “You rang me, and you said 'What can I do to help? I've been through this.'
“I remember talking about this when your son went to secondary school and I just said: 'At the moment I am trying to find trousers to fit,' and you did a massive load, didn't you? And sent me loads of appropriate wear.
“You became wardrobe mistress, it was brilliant, and we had a fantastic try on and I was filming Billy trying them on and at the end of it, you'll see, I'll show you privately, he went 'Don't show this on GMB'."
Meanwhile, Kate gave an update on her husband last week – revealing she hadn’t been allowed to see him in hospital on the day of their 15th wedding anniversary.
She said: “I kind of hoped I would but it hasn’t worked out that way for the visit… But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway. So it’s a tough day.
“He’s still here. There’s not a huge amount of change. There are so many seeming positives and then plungings.
