Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick’s happy update on dog Keira after she was hit by van

Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick has updated fans on the status of his dog Keira.

Last week, the TV star, 52, told how he was out for a walk with his terrier Keira when a van came speeding around the corner and ran her over.

Keira - who Noel has owned for 13 years - suffered internal organ damage and a badly fractured pelvis.

And now, the Irish vet has shared some positive news about Keira and her road to recovery on Twitter.

Penning the message as if his pup was speaking, the Tweet read: "Good Mornin everyone Thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers and kindness.

"I finally have all my tubes out and I’m getting a little stronger each day. ‘Onwards and upwards and let’s find the joy in the day’ as daddy would say. Love you. Thank you again. Keira x."

The tweet was illustrated with a snap of Noel's four-legged friend.

Noel recently appeared on ITV's This Morning and said that his "life unravelled" when Keira had the accident.

He said: "When you hear your dog, the love of your life for 13 years who has been through the ups and downs with you, being crushed and you're two feet away from the wheel, your life unravels in front of your eyes."

Noel recalled how strange it was to be for the first time the dog owner in the other chair who is discussing their pet's health with the vet.

"I was just an emotional wreck, I was useless," he admitted.

Keira was treated at Noel's own vet practice in Surrey.
