Strictly’s Nicola Adams rushed home from Greece before new quarantine crackdown

Strictly Come Dancing's Nicola Adams got back from Greece just hours before the new quarantine rules came into play.

The Olympic Gold medallist, 37, was among many holidaymakers making a beeline for the UK following the announcement of the new rules.

Any Brits on their way home from Greece from Wednesday onwards will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

The TV sensation had been enjoying a romantic break with her girlfriend Ella Baig in Mykonos ahead of her Strictly stint.

Nicola will make history on Strictly as she will be in the show's first ever same-sex couple to compete on the dance floor.

As it turned out, the star told bosses it's the only way she would sign up.

Fans have been calling for two men or two women to dance together for years.

The star jetted off on a last-minute break with her girlfriend before she gets stuck into the notoriously long hours of dance training.

Nicola and Ella have been romancing since 2018 after they met on a night out.

They live happily together in South London with their pet bulldog Brooklyn.

Recently, the boxer opened up about what it took to spur her on to take part on Strictly Come Dancing this year.

Nicola told The Mirror: "I asked the show about it. They wanted to know if I wanted to be on the show and I said, 'Yeah, I'll do it, but I want to dance with another female'.

"It's really important, it's a big step for the show as well. It's nice to see that we're able to move on. I just can't wait to get some dancing done, really.

"I want to thank the BBC for supporting me and making me the first ever all female-pairing. And it's amazing to be a part of the movement for change, diversity and breaking boundaries in the entertainment industry."
