Strictly’s Matt Goss hopes dancing on show will get Bros: The Movie made at last

Strictly star Matt Goss is hoping his stint on the show will help his bid to see Bros: The Movie become a reality.

The 80s heartthrob is desperate to turn his band’s rollercoaster life story in a blockbuster biopic and he reckons it could rival Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody – which charted the lives of Elton John and Queen icon Freddie Mercury.

The When Will I Be Famous? singer said: “There is a lot of interest in Bros and also my life.

“It’s something we’ve been talking about. It’s a great story and brilliant on the big screen.”

A friend of Goss revealed: “Matt and [brother] Luke have seen how films like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman blew up.

“For the past couple of years they have been secretly working on a story plot and script, and getting advice from writers about a pitch to studios.

“One of Matt’s reasons for returning to the UK is to get buzz about him, his achievements and Bros.”

The friend added a movie was a “lifelong dream” for Matt, 53, saying: “He is going to push as hard as he can to get the film into production. Strictly is providing the perfect platform to put him centre stage again.”

A documentary about Bros called When the Screaming Stops was a hit with audiences and critics. Since then, Londoner Matt has co-created a film script detailing the band’s rise and off-stage escapades.

Bros, formed in 1986 by Matt, twin brother Luke and pal Craig Logan, sold more than 16 million records. They split in 1992 but the twins reunited in 2017.

The new series of Strictly kicks off on BBC1 next month.
