Maisie Smith is already feeling the burn.

Gruelling Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals have got the 19-year-old EastEnders star gasping for air.

Maisie took to Instagram to be brutally honest about how preparations for the first live dance are going, and it's safe to say it's taking its toll.

Sharing a candid snap of herself laying on the ground following a sweaty routine, Maisie penned: "If you're rehearsals don't end up like this you're doing it wrong. [sic]"

Maisie was last week confirmed to be partnered up with dance pro Gorka Marquez, and the pair are actually the bookies' favourite to win.

But despite being the gym enthusiast she is, it seems as though Maisie didn't expect rehearsals to be this tough this soon.

The soap star has been on a mission to get in tip top shape for her dance stint and revealed to fans in September that she had been making regular gym trips.

Speaking to New! mag earlier this month, Maisie revealed: "I'll be honest, I love going to the gym - it's my happy place where I can work on myself."

She went on: "But in lockdown it was closed and I didn't do one home workout. I just couldn't be bothered. I was tired. But as soon as the gyms opened again, I knew I was doing Strictly, and I've gone every single day to prepare.

"I know how hard it is and I want to be fit enough."

Maisie has previously competed in Strictly's Children in Need special and is also a trained dancer.

In recent days she has soared to the top spot as this year's predicted winner after bookmakers slashed her odds to 2-1.
