Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith blames her boobs for getting the boot from Strictly Come Dancing.

The Labour former MP was voted off in the first week, having performed a samba routine to Tom Jones song Help Yourself.

Recalling advice dance partner Anton du Beke gave her about her posture, she said: “T*ts out, t*ts out, t*ts out. That’s what Anton had told me. That’s sort of been the theme... the problem with my samba was my t*ts were not sufficiently out.”

Jacqui, 58, also said judge Craig Revel-Horwood acted like a “pantomime baddie” and admitted that she was stung by his harsh critiques of her dancing.

She slammed Craig for comparing her to a “stumbling drunk” after one dance and added: “I’m quite tough, but I did find that quite difficult.”

Noting fellow judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse complimented her for “coming a long way”, she complained: “Craig was slightly more focused on how far I hadn’t come...

“But it’s Strictly, it’s fabulous, it’s not the end of the world, nobody died.”

She adds of the routine in which she was hoisted on a trapeze covered in feathers: “That was my Widdecombe moment. Ridiculous.

“Incidentally, I have united the nation across political divides... I understand from Anton that Ann Widdecombe voted for us. That’s really sweet of her.”

She has vowed to continue dancing with her new boyfriend, Birmingham University politics lecturer Dr Graham Timmins, who has promised to keep twirling her in her hometown of Malvern, Worcs.

She told the For the Many podcast: “He loves me for my mind and my personality.”

And there’s another Strictly activity Jacqui plans to carry on with, saying of the show’s famous spray tans: “They are absolutely fantastic. I’m a convert.”
