Five couples will battle it out for the Glitterball in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing finale.
The current series is shorter than usual because of the Covid pandemic.
But BBC bosses have decided that rather than having double evictions they will have a bumper last week instead.
A source said: “They are sure it will capture imaginations. It will make things much more open – with the potential for big shocks.”
The contest looks set to be one of the most open in recent years, with no clear bookies’ favourite.
Maisie Smith and HRVY have the shortest odds but Bill Bailey and Caroline Quentin are close behind.
Bosses are also hoping Bruno Tonioli will return after his US stint, with a source saying they would love to get his energy back.
Executives insist the atmosphere will not be affected after lockdown scuppered limited audience plans.
“Everyone is under instructions to clap louder than ever,” a source said.
