The contestants of Strictly Come Dancing have been warned they will be given the boot if they are caught snogging in the upcoming series.
For months, the 2020 series of the long-running BBC dance competition has been putting plans in place to allow the show to safely return amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
But even the best laid plans often go awry, and already Strictly is facing a Covid crisis – with a little over two weeks before the 18th series is due to kick off.
Singer and former CBBC presenter HRVY – real name Harvey Cantrell, 21 – sparked an alert when he tested positive for the Covid-19 virus this week.
And now anxious BBC bosses are said to be doing everything they can to prevent further infections – including banning stars from kissing.
A source told The Sun: “While most of the pros are coupled up, there’s never any guarantees about what might happen.
“HRVY has been quite open about the fact he’s game for a bit of romance. But clearly, in the current climate, we don’t want him mingling outside of his bubble or putting himself — or others — at any risk.”
And it seems the BBC will be taking a ‘zero tolerance’ approach.
The source claimed: ”Celebs caught in the act have been told they face being chopped from the show. It’s a case of one strike and they’re out.”
Producers and bosses could have their work cut out for them, however, as Strictly famously suffers from a relationship and marriage wrecking “curse”.
Many high profile break-ups have occurred due to star contestants and professional dancers falling for each other behind the scenes after spending days on end with their bodies pressed up against each other in rehearsals and on stage.
While comedian Seann Walsh and Katya Jones are just one example of a pairing who were caught locking lips in public back in 2018.
