Simon Cowell is making a remarkable recovery from surgery on his broken back with reports that he is already taking his first tentative steps.
The 60-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge fell off an electric bike at his Malibu home on Saturday, almost severing his spinal cord and paralysing himself in the process.
After a six hour operation at the weekend, Simon is reportedly in "good spirits" and has already thrown himself back into work from his hospital bed.
Speaking to PEOPLE, a source said that Simon is tackling his workload just days after a metal rod was put into his back, after he fell from his £15,000 electric bike.
The source has claimed that the BGT supremo is back on his feet. They said: "He’s on his feet and walking around again as much as he can.
“He’s taking it easy but doing well."
The source added: “Simon is already back at work and he’s been working on email on his iPad and speaking to a few on his team.”
“He’s definitely not letting this slow down all the things he’s got going on."
Simon is due to film the live quarter final rounds of America's Got Talent over the next four weeks after production was initially halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
His place in the judge's chair will be taken by Kelly Clarkson, who will join Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel in running a rule over the acts.
The source added: "Simon’s really happy Kelly is standing in for him on AGT this week and grateful to her."
Simon addressed his injuries in a couple tweets that he sent as he began his recovery from the back surgery.
He tweeted: “If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back."
He added in another tweet some praise for those who are looking after him: "And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met."
Simon was with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman along with his six-year-old son Eric and her 14-year-old son Adam, when the accident happened on Saturday.
The source added: "Lauren was able to drop some things he needed off to him briefly today but obviously because of Covid-19 and ensuring everyone there is safe, he isn’t having any visitors.
"He knows how lucky he was with what happened."
