The X Factor boss could have been left paralysed after he fell off his new electric bike at his Malibu mansion over the weekend on Saturday.
The music mogul, 60, gave an update in his own words to his 11.3million followers on Twitter as he spoke out about the nasty accident for the first time.
In his tongue and cheek fashion, Simon advised people to read the manual before riding an electric bike for the first time.
The TV sensation thanked everyone for their kind messages flooding social media after the news hit headlines.
He wrote: "Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages."
Simon praised his doctors and nurses as "some of the nicest people" he has ever met.
He added: "And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors.
"Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone Simon."
Simon had six-hour emergency surgery after he broke part of his back over the weekend.
His America's Got Talent chair was left empty as filming went ahead without the star.
Celebs have been penning heartfelt tributes online to Simon as he makes his recovery.
America's Got Talent co-star Sofia Vergara wrote: "We miss our boss!! Come back fast @simoncowell!!"
Heidi Klum added: "Wishing you a speedy recovery @simoncowell."
Simon's close friend confided in The Mirror he narrowly missed being paralysed for life by 1cm.
His spokesperson detailed the fall which left Simon with a broken back in a number of places.
The spokesperson added: “Simon has broken his back in a number of places in a fall from his bike whilst testing a new electric bike in the courtyard of his home in Malibu with his family.
“He was taken to hospital where they operated overnight, he’s under observation and is doing fine.”
