Simon Cowell has admitted he's "terrified" of son Eric being bullied and admits that if it does happen, he doesn't think he could handle it.
The Britain's Got Talent judge, 60, shares his six-year-old son with partner Lauren Silverman, who he has been dating since 2013.
In his interview last year with The Mail on Sunday, Simon admitted that he almost called his son Eric Simon, but in the end decided to name him after his own dad instead.
In the recently resurfaced interview, he says: "I do think we made the right call. It would have been too much to inflict Simon on him. And him getting bullied is what I dread most."
He added: "There are two things that worry me about him growing up. One is stress. Children are under so much stress – with homework, pressure.
"I really don't want that for him. The second thing is bullying. It terrifies me. If there's even a whiff of it, I don't think I could handle it."
Simon went on to reveal that Eric already considers himself a working boy as he believed that showing up to the office with his dad was a job well done.
Simon explained: "He said: 'What do you mean? I already have a job. I come to the studio don't I?' I had to point out to him that there's more to what I do than just pitching up."
Simon landed himself and his son parts in the first ever Scooby-Doo film called SCOOB!.
Simon plays himself in the movie whilst his son, Eric, plays a character named Ben who is a young tourist at the Acropolis in Greece.
The animated film, also featuring the voices of Mark Wahlberg, Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried, had been set to arrive in cinemas this month but due to the coronavirus pandemic is heading straight to digital services to stream at home.
Simon posted a pic of himself and Eric in the recording studios voicing their parts, as well as a shot of himself in the animation.
Quizzed about what it’s like to work with his son Eric, Cowell joked: “Oh, it’s a nightmare working with Eric. He’s so competitive. He was better than me and he knows that because he had a part – so when I was terrible, he was fantastic.
"But it was so much fun. I mean, really so much fun.”
