Simon Cowell ordered to give up thrill-seeking antics by girlfriend Lauren after accident

X Factor mogul Simon Cowell suffered a nasty accident last week while testing out his new electric bike at his home in Malibu. Simon underwent six hours of surgery after breaking his back in the accident

Simon Cowell' s long term girlfriend Lauren Steadman has warned him that he must give up his thrill seeking hobbies.

The X Factor judge, 60, recently broke his back after testing out a powerful £15,000 electric bike and had to undergo 6-hour emergency back surgery after losing control of the automobile at his Malibu home.

“Lauren doesn’t want him to ride one of those bikes again, so he’s agreed with his friends and family to get rid of them as soon as he’s out of hospital," a source told The Sun.

The insider added: “The power of the bike was unbelievable when he changed the setting up to the second one. The bike just flew into the air.

“Thankfully he let go of the bike as he fell backwards and it didn’t land on him.”

Simon since revealed that he didn't read the manual for his new electric bike before suffering the horrific accident on his first ride.

Sharing an update on Twitter about his fall with his 11.3 million followers, Simon had nothing but praise for the medical staff that helped him after his fall.

He also joked that he should have read the manual before jumping on his new electric bike.

The X Factor star penned: "Some good advice... If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time.

"I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages."

In a second post he added: "And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone Simon."

A spokesperson for Simon revealed that the television boss had "broken his back in a number of places".

However, the talent show judge is said to be "doing fine" a week after the horrific incident took place.

The America's Got Talent star has also been inundated with well wishes from celebrity friends and fans following the nasty accident.

"I’ve been thinking about my dear friend all day and luckily I’m able to write that he’s had his operation and he’s doing really well," wrote Amanda Holden.

"My family and I wish you a speedy recovery and send you, Lauren and Eric all our love," she continued.

Simon is now back in action and taking the necessary steps to avoid any more injuries.
