Sheridan Smith is reportedly set to become a judge on Stars In Their Eyes as the competition is set to return after having a huge revamp.

The Gavin and Stacey actress appears to be back at work already just six months after giving birth to her son Billy with fiancé Jamie Horn.

And she is said to have landed a major role on the talent show, renamed Starstruck, which is set to make its return in 2021.

"Starstruck is a new take on telly classic Stars In Their Eyes and will see the public living out their dreams on stage as their idols," a source told The Sun.

They added: "Sheridan is the perfect fit for the show as one of the judges. Her job will be to critique the acts and then give them advice after they have performed.

"Along with being a fantastic actress, Sheridan is a talented singer and after playing Cilla Black in the ITV show about her life, she knows a thing or two about impersonating amazing singers."

The competition last aired in December 2006, but show bosses have decided to bring it back for another go after undergoing a big change.

Stars In Their Eyes saw contestants undergo a transformation before morphing into their favourite singers and impersonating them on the stage.

It's believed filming for the series will begin in May next year after it suffered a setback due to the coronavirus.

The former ITV show was a huge success and received around 13 million viewers on each finale.

It was originally presented by Leslie Crowther until Matthew Kelly took over in May 1993.

He was then replaced by Cat Deeley in 2004.

Mirror Online has contacted Sheridan's representative for comment.
