Sheridan Smith and Joanna Lumley are among stars joining This Morning for a daytime panto.

ITV bosses say it’s a "panto mash-up" with characters including Aladdin, Dick Whittington and Snow White.

Holly Willoughby is Cinderella and Phillip Schofield will be her best friend Buttons as they embark on a journey to attend the This Morning Ball.

Sheridan, who is playing Peter Pan, said: “The whole theatre and creative industries have been devastated by the virus and lockdown.

“Hopefully doing this panto with This Morning will provide some of these people much-needed work and give everyone... hope and laughter.”

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna, playing a wicked stepmother, added: “All of us who appear in front of the audience are painfully aware of the desperate situation of everyone who makes shows and plays happen - the chorus, dancers, and then backstage, choreographers and chorus masters, props and costumes and dressers, and writers… the list goes on.

“To be able to help them in any small way is a privilege. They don’t get any of the financial help that is being dished out.”

Other stars appearing include Christopher Biggins, Dr Ranj, Gyles Brandreth, Lisa Snowdon and Alison Hammond.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes will appear, with Alison Hammond and Britain’s Got Talent winner Jon Courtenay performing too.

This Morning is currently enjoying record ratings.

The May 11 show was up 156% year on year, with nearly 2 million viewers.

*This Morning’s panto airs Friday December 11th from 10am on ITV.
