Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott have called time on their whirlwind romance.

Made In Chelsea star Sam, 27, fell head over heels for former Love Island siren Zara, 23 last year when the brunette bombshell cheekily slid into his Instagram DMs.

Fast forward 16 months and the fiery pair have split after lockdown proved too much for their on-off relationship.

It’s believed that Sam and Zara ended things after a loved-up getaway to Mykonos where the telly stars shared an array of sweet couple photos and gushing posts.

Speaking to Mail Online, an inside source claimed that their relationship went downhill after moving int together.

After being cooped up at home for months on end amid the coronavirus lockdown, the seemingly perfect couple got into the habit of arguing, which took a huge toll on their relationship.

“They had been arguing a lot since moving in together as a result of lockdown and things just built up between them,” the source revealed.

"Zara has moved back to her parents' house in Essex where she's taking some time for herself, she really loved Sam so this hasn't been easy for her."

"Sam has gone away to have a break from it all and clear his head away from Zara and social media.”

The pair, who usually post loved-up snaps to social media on the daily have not shared any photographs together since the middle of August.

Their split comes just weeks after former Celebs Go Dating star Sam insisted that he planned on marrying Zara in the future.

The cheeky chap revealed that a proposal was imminent, saying" "I actually will" when quizzed if was going to propose.

During an exclusive online screening of Celebs Go Virtual Dating with the cast, agent Paul C Brunson told Sam: "I have one question, have you proposed to your girlfriend?

"Sam, this is very important, you two are perfect, make that happen, put a ring on it. You need to propose by the end of the year”

Sam replied: "I will, I actually will.”

The pair celebrated their first anniversary back in May when they gushed over one another in loving posts.

In a touching post, Sam said that he feels as though he has won the jackpot with Zara, who he is so lucky to call his other half.

The reality TV duo announced their relationship in 2019 when Sam admitted that Zara was the one to slide into his DMs on Instagram.

But the Made In Chelsea star had been liking all of her photos on social media "to let her know I was there".
