Ryan Phillippe 'takes swipe' at Ellen DeGeneres after 'toxic workplace' claims

Cruel Intentions star Ryan Phillippe has posted what appears to be a tongue-in-cheek reference to rumours of Ellen DeGeneres' show being a 'toxic workplace' in a new Instagram Story post

Hollywood star Ryan Phillippe appeared to make a jibe at Ellen DeGeneres on Instagram.

The Cruel Intentions star, 46, took to Instagram on Saturday to post a sweaty selfie in front of a billboard promoting The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

After his outdoor run, Ryan posted the pic and captioned it: "And remember to be kind…. Wait".

It has been noted that Ryan has not appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2011.

Ryan's ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, with whom he shares daughter Ava, 21, and son Decaon, 17, is known to be good friends with Ellen and regularly appears on the show.

Reese last sat down with Ellen back in March of this year.

Ryan's post comes after Ellen and the crew of her show faced several allegations of a toxic workplace, which included accusations of bullying.

Ellen addressed them when she returned to the air after her summer break last month and said she wasn't aware of what had been going on but vowed to sort it out.

She said: "How was everybody's summer? Good? Mine was great. Super terrific. I'm so happy to be back in the studio - there are a lot of things I want to talk about. I've been looking forward to addressing it all directly.

"Unfortunately talking directly to people had been illegal for six months, so I have a virtual audience here instead.

"As you may have heard, this summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show. And then there was an investigation."

Ellen added: "I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously, and I want to say I am so sorry to the people who were affected.

"I know that I am in a position of privilege and power and I realise that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility at what happens at my show.

"This is The Ellen DeGeneres show. I am Ellen DeGeneres."

She concluded: "We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future.

"We have made the necessary changes and today, we are starting a new chapter."

Meanwhile, Ryan recently reunited with ex-wife Reese to celebrate the 17th birthday of their son Deacon.
