Ruth Langford forced fans to do a double take as she debuted a dramatic new look featuring long hair extensions.

This Morning presenter Ruth, 60, is known for her signature short hairstyle but it seems as though she felt a change of heart and wanted to play around with a new look.

Taking to Instagram, Ruth - who is married to co-star Eamonn Holmes - shared a video of her getting her locks sorted out as the hairdresser pops her extension tapes back in.

Sat in the hot seat with a mask on, Ruth penned: "My hair extension tapes came out during lockdown and I hadn't bothered replacing them....but I missed the extra body they give my hair."

She added: "I don't have them for extra length, just to add a bit of volume at the sides. My hair definitely got thinner because of menopause so these really help."

Fans seemed to love Ruth's youthful look as they rushed to the comments section to give their thoughts on the unrecognisable hairdo.

One fan penned: "I think you look lovely!"

Another wrote: "Ooh I've never seen them being done!!"

While a third shared a personal experience, adding: "So happy you posted this I'm 56 and feel the same my daughters hairdresser told me get extensions you've just gave me the push thanks Ruth."

However fans of Ruth's long tresses might have to make do with just the one video, as the next one she shared saw her go back to her old ways.

She added: Getting the full works today!"

Fans appreciated Ruth opening up about the secrets to her staple hairstyle, as one wrote: "Thanks for being so honest, Ruth! It's worth it, your hair always looks good x."

Another agreed, adding: "Gorg, love it."
