Rochelle Humes sobs as she recalls ‘trying to scrub skin off’ after racist abuse

Rochelle Humes has tearfully recalled how she tried to scrub her skin over racist abuse she received as a child.

Rochelle spoke out alongside husband Marvin as part of Channel 4's upcoming documentary, The Talk, which deals with race.

And 31 year old Rochelle was comforted by her husband as she discussed the profound impact racism had on her childhood in a preview clip shared with fans.

An emotional Rochelle said: "My legs were red because I'd tried to scrub my skin off...and I'm not upset for me, I'm just upset because I think, my little girl is the same age.

"I just don't know how I would handle that."

Rochelle and Marvin share daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and Valentina Raine, three, while Rochelle is pregnant with their first son.

Sharing the emotional clip on Instagram, the doting mum wrote: "Opening up about racism and my challenges was overwhelming as it reminded me as it reminded me that we still live in a world where racism is normalised and accepted.

"I don't want my children growing up in a world where they think that their heritage and skin colour could be judged neagtively.

"That's why I was so emotional, not for me, but for every child or person who has been made to feel like they're not enough because of their skin colour.

"So I allowed myself to open up and be vulnerable about this topic publicly to help support others through shared experience and also educate people on the lasting impact racism and discrimination can have on people.

"The Talk tomorrow night on @channel4."

Sister Sophie Piper left a string of heart emojis in the comments section.

Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock and presenter Ore Oduba, while Paddy McGuinness offered: "So important to hear this from role models like yourself."

Channel 4's tease for Tuesday's episode says that Emeli Sande and Tinie Tempah are also involved with the show.

The show description says it sees "black Britons share their poignant, funny and emotional experiences of the conversations parents have to help their children face racism."

The trailer sees rapper Tinie recall other children "laughing" at his name.

Leigh-Anne, who shot to fame with her Little Mix bandmates, says: "You're the black girl. You've got to work ten times harder."
