Riot Games Recently Announced Partnership To Create League Of Legends Music For Worlds Finals

Riot Games has teamed up with Universal Music Publishing Group, the company announced last night. Fourteen famous UMPG artists participated in an esports-themed music camp in July to create six new songs to promote the League of Legends Worlds finals.

The camp was held from July 24 to 27 in Shanghai’s GUM Studio. Among the artists was Golden Melody Awards (GMAs) Best Band winner Matzka, GMAs Best New Artist nominee Gong, and music reality show Chuang 2020 contender Chiyo.

The full list consists of mostly Chinese artists, such as Matzka, Gong, Chiyo, Moi Yang, Nia Yang, Tian Mi, Xiao Junfeng, Rtruenahmean, JZlee, Daniel Kim, Dru Chen, Laird Yu, Chris Lyon, and Rabitt.

“We set up our Beijing office with this in mind,” said Andrew Jenkins, president of UMPG Australia and Asia Pacific. “Appointing a best-in-class local management team with a shared goal of focusing on developing the rich potential of Chinese songwriters and allowing them to shine.”

The 2020 League World Championship will take place from Sept. 25 and Oct. 31 in Shanghai. The finals will be hosted at the Pudong Soccer Stadium. It’ll be the first time the League Worlds final will be held at a new stadium, which will be the future home of the Shanghai SIPG soccer club.

Recently Riot Games also created a partnership to create a TV-reality show. The show is named LoL THE NEXT and is based on the many popular K-pop reality shows that showcase upcoming talent during the competitive environment that is the audition process.

From a list of 100 Diamond-ranked or above players, the show will put each player through a rigorous audition process that will eliminate people at regular intervals until just 10 competitors remain.

These final 10 players will be split into two seperate teams and then mentored by four legendary Korean pros. One team will be coached by the pair of Wolf and PawN, while the second squad will be coached by PraY and MaRin.

The four LCK legends who will be participating as mentors will be supporting the participants for the missions throughout the program. Wolf will join hands with PawN to form one team, and PraY will be forming another team with MaRin. The LCK legends will be scouting and evaluating the participants to lead their team to victory.

The applying conditions for participation was “at least Diamond 1” in the KR server. While the period for the application was only for 11 days, nearly 1,000 players applied. After selecting 100 players for an interview, 40 participants made it to the program. The participants have gone through various missions to join the teams, and the legends will be evaluating the participants to finally leave five members per team.
