Actress Reese Witherspoon has reunited with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe for their son Deacon's 17th birthday celebrations.
The Big Little Lies star, 44, featured in a post on Ryan's Instagram Story that showed Reese bring out a birthday cake for Deacon as those around him sing Happy Birthday to the teen.
Deacon is shown looking pleased by his candles and birthday cake.
Ryan himself does not appear in the clip but he also went on to post images of his son with a sweet message.
The Cruel Intentions star, 46, penned: “Happy birthday to my extraordinary [sun emoji]".
The cute tribute comes after Reese herself shared a loving message about her son.
"Happy Birthday to my wonderful son @deaconphillippe!" Reese penned on Instagram.
"My bright light/ hardworking / fun-loving / music making / deeply kind son, who always finds the good in everyone and everything.
"What a pleasure to watch you grow into an amazing young man who is always curious and endlessly creative. Can’t wait to celebrate! I love you so much #17 ".
The happy celebration comes after Reese penned a much sadder tribute following the passing of family dog Pepper.
The Oscar-winning actress wrote: Reese penned: "Our sweet Pepper passed away yesterday. My goodness, she was such a loyal and devoted family member.
"I am so heart broken, but I am also deeply grateful for all the love and comfort she brought our family.
"Now she’s in dog heaven where all great pets go. Chasing tennis balls, running through open fields of wild flowers and being the Queen that she is. That’s what I believe."
She signed off: "We will always love you, Pepper."
Reese was married to Ryan Phillippe from 1999 until they separated in 2006 and divorced the following year.
They share two children: Ava Phillippe, 21, and 17-year-old Deacon.
Witherspoon went on to marry talent agent Jim Toth in 2011, with whom she shares 8-year-old son Tennessee James.
Elsewhere, Reese could potentially return for a third season of Big Little Lies if she and best friend Nicole Kidman get their way.
