Rebekah Vardy says Coleen Rooney ‘leaked stories herself’ leaving her suicidal

Rebekah Vardy has hit back at Coleen Rooney as the Wagatha Christie case prepares to go to court.

In court documents seen by MailOnline, the wife of Leicester City and England footballer Jamie Vardy revealed her 'extreme anguish' after being exposed 'to public ridicule and contempt' by Coleen Rooney.

In the documents drawn up by Rebekah's lawyers in her libel battle against Coleen, she also claims that the stress caused by Coleen's actions left her fearing for her unborn baby, as Rebekah was seven months pregnant when the scandal broke.

She also claims that she suffered panic attacks and was unable to leave her home in the wake of the revelations.

Rebekah reportedly claims that Wayne Rooney's wife made her a 'scapegoat' for stories appearing in the press, when she says it was Coleen herself or her friends that were leaking the gossip.

The court documents reportedly show Rebekah "has deliberately been made a scape goat (sic) by the Defendant (Coleen) for past 'leaked' stories".

Rebekah also alleges that stories about the Rooneys "in particular about their marriage, which have in fact come from the Defendant's friends, at times even with the Defendant's approval".

The paper also states that Dan Wootton had revealed on talkRADIO on October 19 last year that he believed Coleen had "manipulated the media to tell stories about her own life".

He also states that "lots of other things around the Rooneys" that had come directly from friends of Coleen including some told 'with her (Coleen's) approval'."

Rebekah also claims that Wootton said that none had ever come from "any of the Vardys".

It has been reported that Rebekah believes that Coleen's public finger pointing on her Instagram had "gravely injured her reputation," and had "caused her enormous distress and very extreme embarrassment."

She goes on to describe the level of abuse she received on social media in the wake of Coleen's claims, with many wishing ill on her unborn baby.

Rebekah allegedly points out that her name was the most popular search term on Google in UK on the day Coleen made her accusations, bumping Brexit down to second place.

She also claims her name appeared 276,822 times on Twitter that same day, which was more than triple the number of mentions of Boris Johnson, who had his name published 80,704 times.

On that day, Coleen alleged that Rebekah had been leaking stories to the press about her and the reason why she knew that was because she had posted the source information on a private Instagram account of which Rebekah was one of a few followers that included close friends and family of Coleen.

Rebekah is suing Coleen for £1million of the damage it has caused her reputation.
