Rapper Lil Yase shot dead hours after wishing fans a happy Thanksgiving

Lil Yase – real name was Mark Antonyyo Alexander – was shot and killed in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early hours of Saturday, just an hour and a half after leaving a recording studio

Up and coming American rapper Lil Yase has been shot and killed following a Saturday morning shooting in San Francisco Bay Area.

The musician was 25-years-old and his death has been described in reports ads being ‘suspicious’ as his body was found in the southern section of the East Bay, miles from where he was last seen.

The murder of Lil Yase – whose real name was Mark Antonyyo Alexander – has shocked his circle of friends and peers.

His shock death came just hours after he took to social media to wish his followers a happy Thanksgiving – and shortly after he had been meeting with friends at a recording studio in Marin County, north of San Francisco.

TMZ reported on the death, stating the musician left the studio: “on his own at one point around 11:30 or midnight, telling his buddies he'd be right back.”

The report goes on to state friends of the star learned an hour and a half later that he had been shot dead in the East Bay – an hour drive from the recording studio he had been in.

The TMZ report continues: “We're told folks in Yase's inner circle are dumbfounded – as he had no known enemies and had done nothing they can see leading to something like this.

“Our sources say Yase might've played tough in his music, but in reality ... all he was really about was rapping, promoting his label (Highway 420 Productions) and labelmates, and gaming.

“That's it ... he had no beef with anyone anywhere.”

Lil Yase’s record label, Highway 420 Productions, confirmed his death on Saturday.

Sharing a post on Instagram, they said in a statement: “We appreciate all the love and support.

“Yase loved his fans, he worked every day for y’all. We have hundreds of songs coming for you.”

Fans and collaborators have taken to social media to share their shock and grief over the rapper's death.
