Pumpkin Jack Is A Spooky 3D Platformer Releasing On October 24th

We’re well into October where the scary movies are playing and the decorations are coming out in spades. Spooky horror games are also being featured in great detail, which is great if you enjoy these frights around this time of year.

One of the more unique from a platforming standpoint is Pumpkin Jack, which is being developed by lone creator Nicolas Meyssonnier. Halloween is fast approaching and to get in the festive spirit, a new trailer for Pumpkin Jack was released along with an official release date.

On October 24th, gamers will be able to take on the role of Jack, the Mythical Pumpkin Lord who’s been sent to destroy all that is good. It’s rare that you get to be a bad guy so this action-adventure platformer stands out right away.

The game really has a Medievil feel to it that you’ll pick up on right away. This series is beloved by many today so if you’re a fan, you kind of know what you’re getting with this Halloween-themed game.

You’ll journey through a kingdom of mythical creatures and have the chance to unleash your pumpkin powers on all that stand in your way of bringing chaos into the world.

The game does a good job at keeping gameplay fresh because it’s not just a platformer where you try to get from one area to the next. Rather, there are some good combat mechanics to look forward to.

The battles play out in real time and require players to use all of their reflexes and powers that can be unlocked as they progress through the story. Timing, dodging, and counters are all necessary to have success — especially against the bigger threats in this game.

There are plenty of weapons Jack can use as well to further enhance his magical blows. When you’re not taking down opponents, there are plenty of puzzles to solve. Some of them focus on gravity while others involve critical-thinking.

The diversity keeps you constantly engaged and they’re not too difficult. That’s always important for an adventure game that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Rather, it’s just about having fun.

Halloween is a special time for many and it’s great to see a lot of Halloween-themed games come out. Pumpkin Jack may not have received a lot of attention thus far, but it looks like one of the more fun titles for October with an interesting story and mechanics.
