Piers Morgan slams troll accusing Kate Garraway of faking Derek’s COVID-19 fight

Piers Morgan shut down cruel accusation Kate Garraway was faking her husband Derek's coronavirus battle.

Brave Kate updated fans that her husband Derek spoke his first word since waking up from his coma following his fight with COVID-19.

Derek, 53, has been in hospital since he contracted the killer virus in March.

Her GMB co-star Piers fired back at a vicious troll who cruelly accused Kate of fabricating her husband's coronavirus battle.

In a foul-mouthed rant, the Good Morning Britain star taunted the troll to go "f**k yourself" after the vile abuse.

He tweeted: "You disgusting piece of trash. If you had even an ounce of Kate’s decency, courage & dignity then I would bother to engage you further.

"But you don’t, so go f**k yourself." (sic)

A troll wrote on social media: "Just watched her being allowed to drivel on for 10 mins about her volvo!!! seriously you are scraping the barrel here.

"I just do not believe a word that woman is saying about her husband. I have followed this story and it is not adding up."

Everyone on social media backed Piers in the comments.

The broadcast star took the troll down in front of his 7.6million Twitter followers.

Among the sea of support, one wrote: "What is wrong with people. Honestly, I despair. Poor Kate. I’ve been a friend of Derek’s for two decades, and wish the whole family well - like any decent person would. Well said, Piers x."

Another responded: "This is utterly utterly vile. How can someone have so little regard and empathy for other people? I’m blocking the nasty troll but her reply to this is disgusting."

It comes as Kate reassured her fans her husband had said his first word since he had woken up from a coma.

She said on Lorraine on Monday: "They said, 'We've got a word'. They were quite emotional as well.
