Piers Morgan was told to "f*** off" by Bette Midler as she shared her views on his thoughts about the future of the Duchess of Sussex.

The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain host was scathing in his thoughts on Meghan Markle after she gave a politicised message during the Democrats National Convention, last week.

She had spoken out against 'voter suppression' ahead of the presidential election in November as she gave a talk by video link to the When All Women Vote initiative.

Meghan called for "change" before adding: "If you aren’t going out there and voting, then you’re complicit.”

Piers was not impressed by this response and called for Meghan to be stripped of her royal title as he claims that her role shouldn't see her delving into the politics of another country.

He tweeted at the time: "The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles.

“They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”

Piers is known for his controversial thoughts on social media and has been a long time critic of Meghan and Harry, especially after they looked to cut their royal ties and move to Los Angeles.

It wasn't washing with 74-year-old actress Bette Midler, who told Piers in no uncertain terms what she thought of his tweet.

She shared his thoughts on Twitter and added her own comment, simply writing: "Oh f*** off"

Piers hit back at the Oscar nominated actress with: "#BeKind"

He has since added a dismissive response to those who slammed him over his thoughts.

Piers tweeted: "Like many, you don’t seem to have understood my point. Meghan and Harry can do & say what they like, they just can’t be politically partisan & remain the Duke & Duchess of Sussex.

"The royals have to be publicly non-partisan. That’s the deal."

The When All Women Vote Initiative was co-founded by Michella Obama and was formed to encourage female voters in the forthcoming presidential election.

Meghan was one of many that have spoken up in support of the initiative, with her video being shared last week.

In the video, she said: "When I think about voting and why this is so exceptionally important for all of us, I would frame it as, we vote to honour those who came before us and to protect those who will come after us.

“We're only 75 days away from election day and that is so very close, and yet there's so much work to be done in that amount of time, because we all know what's at stake this year.

“And we look at the attempts of voter suppression and what that's doing, all the more reason we need each of you to be out there supporting each other to understand that this fight is worth fighting and we all have to be out there mobilising to have our voices heard."

Meghan finished by saying: "If you aren't going out there and voting, then you're complicit.

“If you are complacent, you're complicit.”
