Piers Morgan has hit out at Laurence Fox over his stance on Black Lives Matter and footballers taking 'taking the knee' in support of it.

The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter was disgusted with the actor's views as he took aim at Millwall players after a section of their fans booed their support of BLM before their match with Derby County on Saturday.

The Lewis actor, 42, shared a photo on his Twitter account from a football match from the 1940s in Germany, where the players could be seen in a Nazi salute.

He then appeared to compare the photo to the Millwall players who “took the knee”, writing with the pic: "It’s happened before... Appeasement is the incorrect choice."

Piers was not going to let that go unchecked and responded: “You’re comparing taking the knee as a protest against racial injustice to appeasing Nazis? SERIOUSLY???

“Get a grip Laurence - you’re losing the plot."

Laurence hit back: “Which football team do you stand in moral judgment on? The one that did what they were told, or the other one who did what they were told?

“It’s a complex argument. It does need discussion. Steel man my argument.

“It is the 1938 England football association position you are mocking Piers."

Laurence added: "Do you stand in condemnation of every one of those men and their lives as well? We should resist enforced orthodoxy. That’s my view. I don’t believe in moral superiority."

The GMB host pointed out that taking the knee is not a forced move, but one of supporting racial injustice and accused the actor of fuelling "bigots" with his remarks.

Piers tweeted: “Nobody's forcing anyone to take the knee. We live in a democracy.

“It would just be nice if those who did kneel to protest racial injustice, especially black footballers, weren't booed & jeered by racist morons.

“You're fuelling these bigots with your absurd false equivalence.”

The actor, who is also the leader of The Reclaim Party, hit back: “These bigots that you so condescendingly refer too, are just normal logical people.

“They are interested in the conversation. Not the end of the conversation.

“Not even the summing up of the conversation by you. Just the *actual* conversation. Steel man.”

Piers fired back: “They booed one of their own black players kneeling to protest racial injustice. They are bigoted morons & if you support them, then so are you.”

The furious argument continued as Laurence accused Piers of being “morally superior” and “avoiding debate” but the GMB host pointed out that he had invited Laurence on the ITV breakfast show “several weeks ago” to express his views but he had pulled out at the last minute.

Laurence retaliated, saying: “I’ll come on tomorrow morning. Say the word.”
