NieR Re[in]carnation Mobile Game Will Have North American And European Release

Square Enix has confirmed the mobile game NieR Re[in]carnation will launch in North America and Europe. The announcement was made during the NieR 10th anniversary live stream in late September. Square Enix had another surprise announcement in store concerning the NieR Re[in]carnation mobile game, including making it widely available to more players outside of Japan.

NieR Re[in]carnation will be published by Square Enix and developed by Applibot. The game has yet to be released, but pre-registrations are available now in Japan. The English game website and social media accounts are live now. Along with the announcement was a new trailer around 80 seconds long.

The trailer begins with a young girl telling the player their role is to defeat “them” and put the story back in the way it’s meant to be. The trailer continues by introducing more of the characters and their voice roles.

The story stars a girl wearing a white dress, voiced by Rika Nagae. She is lying on a stone floor inside of a cage and experiences nightmares every night. The girl has a gentle and cheerful personality, so it’s unknown why she is captured. She is guided by a strange creature called “Mama,” voiced by Yumi Hara. Mama tells the girl she has to recover what she has lost and to pay for her sins.

Outside of the girl’s cage is a monster in black, voiced by Motoyuki Kawahara. It has an appearance like a knight in armor but is quiet. Its purpose is unknown.

The gameplay so far in the trailer appears to have side-scrolling action. There are some cutscenes in between with various dialogue. More information will likely come soon as the game prepares to launch. Players command the characters, but there’s also an automatic mode so that even less experienced players can enjoy the game.

According to the Play Store listing in Japan, the title is free, but there are in-app purchases. It’s unknown if this will change for the North American and European releases.

The staff was listed on the store page. The staff includes Executive Producer Yosuke Saito, Creative Director Yoko Taro, Director Daichi Matsukawa, Character Designer Akihiko Yoshida, Concept Artist Kazuma Koda, and Music by Keiichi Okabe (MONACA).

NieR Re[in]carnation will launch on iOS/Android. Pre-registrations are currently available only in Japan, with the North American and European release coming soon.
