Nick Cannon throws support behind Kanye West’s ambitious presidential bid

Kanye West has won the support of Nick Cannon as his presidential election hopes continue following some set backs.

The 43-year-old rap star is in the running to become the 46th President of the United States of America when the public go to the polls across the Atlantic come November.

And while Kanye may have caused headlines for controversial reasons as his campaign picked up speed following his bid announcement last month, he has gained more star support in the form of 39-year-old Nick.

The US television host and comedian was quizzed for his thoughts over Kanye’s chances for power after being approached by TMZ reporters in LAX airport on Saturday.

Asked what he thought of Kanye’s run for the White House, Nick enthusiastically replied: “I love it!”

And when asked if he would back the rap superstar, he answered: “Yeah. We need another black man in power.”

It comes after Nick saw his MTV show axed after he was fired from Viacom over anti-Semitic comments he made during a podcast.

Nick told TMZ he is trying to improve his understanding of race relations, and lamented having his show scrapped.

He told the reporter: “It shouldn’t be cancel culture, it should be counsel culture.”

Nick is just the latest star to back Kanye in his election race against incumbent US President, Donald Trump, and Democratic hopeful Joe Biden.

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk was the first to back Kanye when he announced his presidential plans on Independence Day, 4 July.

He told the rapper, via Twitter, that Kanye had his “full support” following his announcement.

While rap star 2 Chainz and wife Kim Kardashian are among other famous faces to publicly back the star.

Kanye’s election chances have been hampered this past week, however, after he was struck off the list of ballot options in his native state of Illinois following a dispute over signatures on his ballot application.

While rumours that the star is only in the race to damage Joe Biden’s campaign have drawn scrutiny and speculation.
