Neighbours star Craig McLachlan 'sent video simulating sex act to woman as joke'
Neighbours star Craig McLachlan told the court on Thursday the video was a "lewd joke" he shared with one of the women accusing him
Neighbours star Craig McLachlan said he sent a video of himself simulating a sex act as part of a "lewd joke", a court heard.
The actor, 55, was charged with seven counts of indecent assault and six of common law assault against four women.
Soap star Mr McLachlan, who played Henry Ramsay, told the court on Thursday the video was a "lewd joke" he shared with one of the women accusing him.
The Australian entertainer denies the charges and maintains his innocence at Melbourne magistrates court.
According to the Daily Star, he told prosecutor Matt Fisher: "I’m simulating touching myself outside of my shorts.
“[The woman] and I used to engage in lewd jokes.”
Mr McLachlan appeared in three videos played in the courtroom including the one of him simulating a sex act.
The TV personality said he sent two of the videos to the same woman because of their joke about food catering.
Footage played in court isn't subject of the charges he faces.
His alleged conduct to women was said to have taken place in Australia in 2014.
Mr McLachlan denied he had touched the accuser's genitals.
The Neighbours star said the timings didn't match up.
He said: "In the moment she nominated, I'm almost two metres away."
