Michelle Dewberry has shared a sweet update on her newborn son who remains a neonatal intensive care unit.

The former Apprentice star gave birth last week after welcoming her little boy nine weeks earlier than expected.

The 40-year-old's waters broke when she was just 28 weeks pregnant, following a visit to see her mum in Hull after lockdown restrictions had eased in the UK.

Media personality and business woman Michelle has revealed she's been giving her son 'kangaroo care' since he was rushed to the special unit.

The skin-to-skin contact is a popular method with mothers and babies to help not only the youngster's overall health, but also their bonding experience with their parents.

It also has a huge range of benefits, including keeping the baby warm and feeling safe, as well as helping to prevent infections.

Michelle gushed over her bundle of joy on Instagram on Sunday when she insisted that holding her son close to her heart in ICU is her favourite thing to do.

Alongside a precious photograph of the new mum cradling her baby while wearing a face mask, the telly star explained that she enjoys sitting with her son for hours on end as he rests in her arms.

Michelle penned: "This is how I spend much of my time now, giving my boy 'skin-to-skin' (aka 'kangaroo care').

"It has great health benefits for premature babies and it's one of the best ways for parents and premmies to bond."

She continued: "It also happens to be one of my favourite things-we sit like this for hours and hours."

Michelle is yet to reveal the name of her newborn, who she welcomed with Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, 52.

Sharing the happy news that she had given birth on Twitter, The Apprentice star said: "So happy to share that I’m now a mummy!

"After a month in hospital and lots of complications, my little man came into this world way too early (31 weeks) but takes after his mamma and is a fighter.

"I’m in love. Our next chapter, that of NICU is now upon us. We take it day by day."

Alongside the announcement, Michelle shared a number of snaps of herself and her newborn son.

The premature baby can be seen in an incubator in one of the offerings posted by the reality personality.

After announcing that she was expecting her fist child back in August, the businesswoman later complained that the coronavirus was robbing her of small joys in her pregnancy journey.

Nevertheless, she insisted that she couldn't be happier to be expecting her first child.

She wrote: "I’ve managed some serious projects in my time, but this one is by far and away the most exciting.

"And despite #covid taking away many of the small joys of my pregnancy so far - I could not be happier....".

Shortly after her big win with The Apprentice in 2006, Michelle suffered immense heartache when she had a miscarriage.

The reality TV champion had been carrying her co-star Syed Ahmed's baby, but their relationship did not survive the devastating loss.
