Football legend Michael Owen appeared to brush off the controversy surrounding his daughter Gemma following her bizarre comment about licking a horses bum on Love Island

Michael Owen looked the part at Royal Ascot just hours after his Love Island daughter confessed she would 'lick a horses' bum.

Gemma, 19, made the bizarre confession on Monday night's instalment of the ITV2 dating show during a game of outrageous questions with her fellow islanders.

And just hours after her horse confession, her 42-year-old dad was spotted arriving at Royal Ascot - after he recently admitted that he has been finding it difficult to watch his daughter on the popular reality TV series.

The football legend appeared in high spirits despite the drama surrounding his now famous daughter.

Michael rocked up to the swanky event in a hard-to-miss ensemble which consisted of a grey top-hat and a matching grey three-piece suit.

Gemma's dad appeared to brush off the controversy surrounding her admission on last night's Love Island as he arrived to the event on Tuesday afternoon.

Love Island fans were left feeling queasy when Gemma admitted she would lick a horse's bum for £2,000.

The startling remark came as Gemma and other girls in the villa were discussing dares they would do, with Paige saying she would not lick a "pig's a**e" for two grand.

Gemma, an international dressage rider, then said: "I would do like, a horse's a**e is clean."

To which Paramedic Paige replied: "it's humungous," to which the brunette bombshell said: "Yeah but they only eat grass really."

Gemma has made no secret of her love for horses, revealing during her first day in the villa that she has 12 of them.

However, many people on Twitter were baffled by her attitude.
