Mel Gibson hospitalised with coronavirus in LA after diagnosis months ago

Mel Gibson was reportedly hospitalised with coronavirus in Los Angeles.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that the 64-year-old Lethal Weapon spent a week in hospital in Los Angeles after being diagnosed with the virus several months ago.

It is believed that the Hollywood actor has since made a full revovery.

In a statement to the publication, Gibson’s representative confirmed: “He tested positive in April and spent a week in the hospital."

It has been reported that he was treated with the drug Remdesivir during his hospital stay and has tested negative for the virus several times since being discharged.

Mel has suffered a few setbacks of late, with the Mad Max star being axed from the sequel of Chicken Run after he faced allegations of offensive behaviour against actress Winona Ryder.

The Stranger Things star accused Gibson of subjecting her to anti-Semitic remarks at a Hollywood party in 1995, as well as levelling homophobic slurs at her friend.

The Oscar-winning director’s representatives denied the allegations in an emailed statement to The Post.

They said: “This is 100 per cent untrue.”

The statement also accused Ryder of lying in the 2010 GQ article, where she first mentioned the allegation and the incident that occurred.

Ryder hit back at the statement, standing by her claims in the process.

She said: “I believe in redemption and forgiveness and hope that Mr Gibson has found a healthy way to deal with his demons, but I am not one of them."
