Mel B allegedly claimed she could go bankrupt if she has to pay the full $500K to her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte.
A Los Angeles judge ordered her to fork out the hefty sum to her ex-husband - $400,000 in legal fees and $100,000 in accounting fees.
But the pop star has reportedly requested Judge Mark Juhas to slash the funds she's ordered to pay Stephen.
According to MailOnline, Scary Spice reportedly told the LA Superior Court in a written declaration: "I will effectively be insolvent and will in all likelihood have to file for bankruptcy.
"I simply do not have the ability to pay such an exorbitant sum."
It's said Mel B set out she's been unable to work during the coronavirus pandemic.
She now lives with her mum and hopes to reboot her once high-flying showbiz career next year.
Last year, the Spice Girls raked in around £3.2 million each from their successful reunion.
Claims surfaced she estimates her outgoings next year at $700,000 including $15,000 a-month spousal support she pays monthly to Stephen, according to MailOnline.
Mel and Stephen shocked the world with their divorce three years ago.
They co-parent her youngest daughter Madison, nine.
It comes after the news Mel has reportedly turned to ask Eddie Murphy for an increase on the £21,000-per-month support he pays for their daughter Angel, 13.
