Meghan Markle is one of social media’s favorite targets so it makes sense that the hate really got to her. After all, the huge criticism in the media is the main reason why she and Prince Harry left royal life!
The former duchess opened up about her mental health and about how damaging ‘being trolled’ has been.
While a guest on the Teenager Therapy podcast to mark World Mental Health Day, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, her husband, discussed the ways in which she was deeply affected by being the ‘most trolled person’ in the world.
‘I’m told that in 2019 I was the most trolled person in the world, male or female. Now 8 months of that, I was not even visible. But what was able to be churned out, it is almost unsurvivable. That is so big, you can’t even think of what that feels like. Because I don’t care if you are 15 or 25, if people are saying things about you that are not true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging,’ Meghan shared on the podcast.

‘So I think from my standpoint, and part of the work that we do, is our own personal experiences and being able to talk to people, and understand that even though our experiences [are] unique to us and obviously can seem very different to what people experience on the day to day, it’s still a very human experience and that’s universal. We all know what it feels like to have our feelings hurt. We know what it feels like to be isolated or the other … We’re all figuring it out,’ the former Suits star shared.
