Was Megan Thee Stallion dating Tory Lanez when the shooting happened that night? In a powerful new essay for ‘The New York Times’ all about aggression against females, the popular star recalled the scary incident, giving never before heard details about what happened to her.
That also means that she finally answered fans’ questions about her relationship with Lanez, who was arrested over allegedly being the one who shot both her feet at his party.
As you can imagine, many people have been wondering if they were dating ever since the news of the shooting.
Now, they have a clear answer from Megan herself – no, they were not, in fact, a couple!
‘I was the victim of an act of violence by a man. After the party, I was shot twice as I was walking away from him. We weren’t in a relationship. Truthfully, I was shocked I ended up in that place,’ she wrote in her essay for ‘The New York Times.’
On the same day it was published, a judge ordered Tory Lanez to keep at last a 100 yards distance from Megan and never contact her in any way.
In addition to that, TMZ reports that he was ordered to surrender all firearms he owned.
Megan reflected more than ever on violence against women and black women especially after what happened to her so she made sure to write about it in her essay.
‘After a lot of self reflection, I’ve realized violence against women isn’t always connected to being in a relationship. It happens because too many men treat women as objects, which helps them justify inflicting abuse against us when we choose to exercise our free will. My initial silence about what happened was out of fear for myself and for my friends.’
‘The way people have publicly questioned and debated whether I played a role in my own violent assault proves that my fears about discussing what happened were, unfortunately, warranted,’ she went on to share in the co-op.
