Maura Higgins has sent a warning to boyfriend Chris Taylor that she has a lot of catching up to do after being starved of sex during lockdown.

After months of speculation about their relationship, the Love Island stars have finally confirmed that they have come out of the friendship zone to be a loving couple.

Fiery Irish beauty Maura, 30, has said that she is "getting sexy" for her new boyfriend as she is now "ready to be with somebody."

Speaking to The Sun, Maura said she "100 per cent feel the sexiest of my life."

She added a warning to new lover Chris, saying: "I’m not sure he’ll be able to put up with me!"

The pair first met in the Love Island villa and were coupled up but kept it purely friends as the sparks failed to fly in the sunshine.

They have remained firm friends ever since and after Maura's relationship with Curtis Pritchard came to an end, she had slowly developed feelings for Chris as fans started speculating about them.

They had always denied that romance was in the air until this week, when Maura posted a photo of her embracing Chris on Instagram, captioning the pic: "He's mine".

Leicester-born Chris, 29, also posted the same photo, which was taken on their recent trip to Dubai, writing with it: "Turns out I fell in love with my best mate."

Their Love Island pals were quick to congratulate the new couple with 2019 winner Greg O'Shea leading the way, commenting: "This is what 2020 needed ❤️❤️"

Reality star Gemma Collins added: "I’m so happy for you"

Love Island fan and current I'm A Celebrity Queen of the Jungle, Jacqueline Jossa celebrated: "Thank f***!"

Chris and Maura are now both living in Essex and until now, she had insisted they were only friends, telling fans: "We are the best of friends."

Maura was asked during a recent Q&A video about Chris and she replied: "This was the first question that came in and I'm not even a bit surprised.

"No, we're not dating. We are the best of friends. We just get on really well. We got on really well in villa, but not a lot of that was shown."
