Mark Wright has reportedly snubbed an appearance on an upcoming The Only Way Is Essex 10-year special.

The 33-year-old television star, who left the series nine years ago, is reportedly reluctant to return to reality TV and will be one of the only TOWIE cast not to appear in the special show.

According to The Sun, Mark has since moved on with his career and is not at all interested in a TOWIE return.

A source told the publication: "It’s a shame as Mark has clearly forgotten his roots.

"The show made him who he is and he wouldn’t have had all of his work gigs, like his radio show, without Towie putting him on the map.

“He’s said he’s in a different part of his life now and doesn’t want to go back to Towie again.

Despite Mark's alleged rejection of the show, bosses are said to have bagged stars such as Joey Essex.

The insider added: “ITV bosses have got the real king of Essex back, Joey Essex, though, so they aren’t losing any sleep over Mark’s decision.

"They hope Mark will be the only former castmate who has refused to take part.”

A representative for Mark has been contacted for comment.

According to the publication, ITV bosses have been forced to change the structure of the upcoming anniversary episode as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to social distancing, producers are unable to film the show as they had hoped.

Instead, the veteran cast will be invited to provide a spoken commentary while the show airs a countdown of the best TOWIE moments.

ITV boss Paul Mortimer opened up about the exciting anniversary special, titled The TOWIE Years.

He said in a statement: "In its decade on screens, TOWIE has produced some of the most jaw-dropping, talked-about TV moments in reality TV history, and as we reach this milestone year for the show, what better opportunity to look back and remember everything that's made The Only Way Is Essex an unmissable 10 years of TV."

What's more, the next season of TOWIE is also expected to return in the Autumn.
